CONVENTIONAL METHODS PROBLEMS

1. Conventional Cowgrass Turfing

  • Suffers transplant shock, dying off before adapting to new environment.
  • Sometimes does not adapt to new environment and stays dead.
  • Root growth is part it's maximum potential of a young plant.
  • Cutting the lawn up from its original site reduces Root growth.
  • Weeds are introduced with the transplanted grass.
  • Stabilisation of embankments is poor due to shallow root system.
  • As an open coarse grass, cowgrass allows weed growth.
2. Alternative Hydro seeding
  • Species selection is often inappropriate.
  • Best soil preparation is often unknown, ignored or short cut.
  • Seed germination is retarded by the binders coating the seeds with a waterproof layer.
  • The mulch is too thick and waterproof for a high germination and seeding emergence rate.
  • Correct amounts of fertilizer and soil modifiers are not included.
